Fieldwork in Orford Ness, Suffolk, March 2014

I’ve spent the last couple of days on a small island off the coast of Suffolk, carrying out fieldwork for my latest MA essay. It’s a fascinating place, merging bleak beauty with an intriguing past. It used to be used for military weapons testing and many dilapidated buildings litter the desolate landscape. Now owned by the National Trust, it’s one of the most mysterious and strange places I’ve ever visited. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/orford-ness/
